FOUNDING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SIMBA MUHWATI
Originally from Zimbabwe, Simba Muhwati became the founding Executive Director of SquashBridge in September 2024. He brings extensive experience from his five years at StreetSquash, a member of the Squash and Education Alliance, where he served as Squash Director and fostered a culture of excellence on and off the court. During his tenure, Simba coached five teams to victory at the SEA Team National Championships and, in 2023, made history by leading Thurgood Marshall Academy as the first all-Black squad to compete at the U.S. High School Squash Nationals. Beyond competition, he guided students through their middle and high school years, teaching resilience, mental toughness, and essential life skills. He also launched The Squash Academy, a public pay-for-play program, and played a key role in StreetSquash’s post-COVID rebuilding efforts.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND FINANCE
NATASHA SMITH
Natasha is the Director of Operations and Finance at SquashBridge and a finance and accounting professional dedicated to helping organizations grow and sustain themselves with integrity and scalability. She brings over 20 years of diversified experience in financial analysis and accounting across the private, nonprofit, and public sectors. Her expertise spans leadership at corporate, executive, and operational levels, with a strong focus on the education and healthcare fields. Natasha’s strengths include business development, mission-aligned budgeting, and financial planning and analysis. She has a proven track record of managing and empowering finance, accounting, and operational teams to execute plans and contribute to achieving organizational missions and goals.
In her role as Director of Operations and Finance, Natasha prides herself on her ability to oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations while maintaining a focus on the broader strategic goals of the organization. She embraces a servant leadership approach and is passionate about developing leaders and change makers. She believes in pursuing big dreams and trusts that anything is possible with thoughtful planning and preparation. A people person and true team player, Natasha finds fulfillment in being part of something greater than herself, particularly in serving communities in need and advancing equity in access.
SQUASH DIRECTOR
AMR ABDELMAKSOUD
Amr Abdelmaksoud has spent over a decade shaping squash at the highest levels in Egypt and internationally. A former top-three junior in Egypt, he went on to coach with the Egyptian National Team and at several leading clubs before founding Squash Kings, where he guided world-class athletes, including Marwan ElShorbagy. Since moving to the U.S. in 2017, Amr has directed and coached junior programs in New York, North Carolina, and Texas, producing nationally ranked players. Most recently, he led Mission Success Houston to three SEA national titles. Now, as Squash Director at SquashBridge, Amr is committed to developing student-athletes on and off the court and to building programs that create lasting community impact.
PROGRAM DIRECTOR
LIANA CUNNINGHAM
Liana is a strategic, equity-centered program leader with more than 15 years of experience in youth development, K-12 education, higher education, and public health. At SquashBridge, she oversees the design and delivery of academic and social-emotional learning programs for Bridgeport students, fostering school and community partnerships that help young people thrive on and off the court. Previously, Liana led the Education & Training team at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, an organization she first joined as a high school peer educator. She also directed an $11.7 million GEAR UP college access initiative at the Naugatuck Valley campus of the Connecticut State Community College, serving a cohort of 2,400 Waterbury students to increase high school graduation and college enrollment rates. Liana holds an MPA from the University of Connecticut and a BA from Trinity College. She is passionate about designing programs that create meaningful change in the lives of young people and the adults who support them.
